Late last year people were already buzzing about widgets. Also late last year I talked a bit about Mpire. It is a shopping site, and now it looks they are harnessing the power of the simple widget for shopping. Today they will introduce 80 shopping widgets.

Letting the shopper keep 100% of the lead revenue is the aim of these free widgets that they want you to use. Mpire feels that their ranking will go up with users that put the widgets on their blogs or MySpace pages.

They are serious about having these widgets accepted by the blogosphere and social networks. Partnering with whateverlife.com, Mpire is stating that they will be competitive in the widget sphere. These widgets will integrate easily into blogging and social platforms.

Mpire has been doing well for another shopping site. They had 800,000 unique visitors last month which is up another 100,000 from the previous month. They are backed with $10 million in funding, and these widgets roll out this morning.
