Meebo Rooms

Meebo Rooms is the hot news this morning and late last night. This looks to be a great new way to chat and also share videos with other users. Currently, Meebo has gained enough traction these days to have have had two rounds of financing. $12.5 million has kept this company growing and providing new services such as this launch of Meebo Rooms.

I personally use Meebo all the time. It beats installing all the chat clients, which I have accounts on quite a few. It also is a great way for me to keep in touch with a few people while they watch my rex.tv stream. Yes, the most boring stream on the planet. Still though, that is the power of streaming video, might be boring, but people still are watching it.

Also noted is that advertising is starting on Meebo with the launch of Meebo Rooms. When you are streaming videos, you can afford to drop in ads. Sorry folks, but advertising on videos is here to stay. Get use to it. The sites need to make some revenue while also appear attractive to advertisers who are waving stacks of cash in front of them. Video is the way to go as far as an ad delivery system.

I will check out the Meebo Rooms in a few days. It’s always hard getting in the first day something is launched. The site suffers, but I’m sure it will be hit. I’m sure Sequoia who invested the initial $3.5 million in 2005, as well as, Draper Fisher Jurvetson who dropped another $9 million in 2006 are quite pleased this morning.

Technically Speaking, as other sites have tracked over the past few days, chat is quite big this week.
