TripAdvisor is now walking into the social network place. This combines the traveling and social networking. I think that is a winning combination.
TripAdvisor, that sea of au courant and sometimes complaint-driven posts about hotels, is making it easier to find like-minded travelers. The subsidiary of Expedia plans to roll out a social-networking component Friday that should help you avoid those less-than-helpful “no ice in the water” comments about foreign hotels.
While you may roll your eyes at the idea of yet another social-networking site, keep in mind that TripAdvisor, which claims 10 million unique users, has cultural custom on its side.
This is going to become a very competitive social networking space in the next few months. There are some tools lacking in this still, but overall, it’s nice seeing someone taking the dive in. I know there is a few of that have rolled your eyes, maybe even spit and cursed at your monitor seeing the word “social network”. Please relax!
One big advantage they will have is utilizing another social network. You can import the information via Facebook f8 apps. Now just saying that alone should really show the importance of the whole Facebook f8 surge.
Technically Speaking, if you are long time reader of this blog, you know that I’m still pulling for a social network that will be rolling out soon with the same premise and idea.
