Facebook, bump in the night or speed bump in the road…

Facebook appears to have not settled that lawsuit with ConnectU. The claim that is being made is that Mark Zuckerberg is no genius, but more like a thief. Now many have stated that this will go nowhere, but by all appearances, it looks to be heading into Federal Court.

This month, however, there’s a federal court hearing on the case. The Portfolio has a good summary.

The lawsuit, filed by brothers Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, and Divya Narendra, accuses Zuckerberg, Facebook’s 23-year-old C.E.O, of stealing the source code, design, and business plan for Facebook in 2003 when he briefly worked in the Harvard dorms as a programmer for their own fledgling social-networking site, now known as ConnectU.

The plaintiffs have demanded that Facebook be shut down and that full control of the site – and its profits – be turned over to them.

Strange days ahead for Facebook? Well when you are riding high, there is always something to bring you down to earth. I am thinking that Zuckerberg and company will figure out a way to ease the ConnectU people and work things out. Of course, that is all speculation on my part.

Technically Speaking, this will be an interesting one to keep your eye on. I’m sure my book selling buddy down in Addison, TX is getting a chuckle out of this one.
