Ujogo (you-joe-go), is an online poker destination that will hit computer screens across the US on Thursday, 7/19.
Endorsed by prominent poker pros, Ujogo is a download-free online poker site that incorporates a multitude of training and educational features to help players improve their game. Ujogo is also based on a social networking platform to help connect, entertain and create a dialog between players.
Ujogo also announced its Series A funding and the acquisition of Gaming Everywhere.
Online poker is one of the most popular games on the Web, attracting over 30 million US adults. Approximately 80% of all poker traffic is driven by free games, with players logging over 5 billion hours per year.
Virtually all free online poker today is for play money with absolutely nothing at stake. As a result, most free online poker play does not come close to replicating the competitive thrill of playing for something of value, which makes it unsatisfying for many who want to improve their skills. Ujogo is making free online poker a much more challenging, competitive and rewarding experience.
According to the press release I received, the main selling point is the social aspect of the site, as well as – tangible PRIZES! Now many of you don’t play online poker, but according to statistics – Over 30 million US adults play over 5 billion hours of free online poker per year. That tells me that this could be a big hit, or at least the company will have a big audience really quick.
Ujogo (derived from the Portuguese word for “game”) provides free, highly competitive and rewards-based online games for millions of U.S. enthusiasts. The company’s first game, online poker, is now in public beta. Founded in 2006, Ujogo is headquartered in San Francisco.
Technically Speaking, I will try to have some more information later on.
