Hello readers, and once again it’s time for another one of my 5 Question Interviews. I’ve had quite a busy day, and I apologize for telling you almost 24 hours ago about Ujogo launching across America. Now here below is 5 Questions, and some pictures of the site for those that have not yet ventured out there.
Q1. In a space that seems to have a lot of players, what makes Ujogo unique?
Ujogo uniquely combines rewards-based play with training, personalization and social networking features. Virtually all free online poker play at other sites is for play money, with nothing at stake. As a result, the play is not very good at other sites, and it is difficult to improve one’s play. Ujogo not only address this issue with prizes for strong players, but it also focuses on training and education tools to help players improve, and it offers numerous other features (avatars, multimedia content, news feeds, profile creation) to make the site more immersive.
Q2. Do you feel that the social aspect is missing amongst the other competitors in the space?
Yes, the leading poker sites have very little focus on social or community-oriented features.
Q3. What do you feel Ujogo has that will leverage enough traction over the others?
Experienced and capable team, access to capital, focus on enabling a high quality poker experience, endorsements from leading poker pros.
Q4. Who is Ujogo, a brief run down of the company if you can release that?
The company was founded in 2006 by Eric Gonzales (former General Partner at DCM – Doll Capital Management), Steven Sheinfield (10 years product management at Cisco) and Doug Sheppard (experienced web apps developer and entrepreneur). Ujogo raised a Series A round from angel investors
in 2/07 and acquired Gaming Everywhere (another free poker site) in 4/07. We are well ahead of our initial business plan so far, in our launch timing and our financial status.
