Technology put to good use….
“Beam me up Scotty!” It appears (or disappears!) that they have figured a cool way to make tanks appear invisible. Not that I advocate war, but this is really a cool use of the technology we have today. I do however think that putting this into production in actual combat situations would prove to be interesting.
It is a right step in the right direction, but hopefully one day tanks and other combat vehicles will be relegated to museums. Unfortunately most of us already know that will probably not be the case. With war a big business for big business, no wars would be bad business for big business.
What many enjoy about working for internet companies is that we get sit back and see cool technology like this develop. We hope that the day comes that we never have to rely on it. In the same token, we also like the fact that our big business are places like “Google”, “Microsoft”, “Yahoo”, etc. and NOT – Big Oil, Big Steel, Big Automotive, etc…
Technically Speaking, while working for startups can be a dangerous thing, I’d rather take my chances here than in an invisible tank where you could be visible in a split second if there is a technology failure.
