Open Social was reported to have been hacked. Looks like even the east coast was awake when this went down. Now for those that are surprised, shame on you. Come on now, what application or new web site that has traction like OS is not the target for someone to try to hack it?
I’m sure the OS people anticipated an attempt, otherwise they are flying with blinders on. Now the good thing is this shows how vulnerable anything can be. I’m sure if the OS creators aren’t awake, they soon will be plugging any more holes before they are exploited.
The difference between a good new standard and a bad one is how much the OS crew cares. I think that with Google behind the show, there is going to be an all hands event to secure the ship. OS made a big splash this week, and that means a lot is being put behind it; ie – money!
