Newspapers are dying….

Why is this even worthy of news this morning? I mean, everyone that is online knows that the newspaper business is about over, much like television is gasping it’s last breath as I type this. Now it appears that they (meaning the big newspapers) are forming an ad network to see if they can re-coup revenue.

THE circulation declines of American newspapers continued over the spring and summer, as sales across the industry fell almost 3 percent compared with the year before, according to figures released yesterday.

One of the things I have done over and over again in my life is re-invent, re-mobilize, and do what it takes to survive in the market place. The people that do this keep on trucking. Even big time people like Bill Gates I’m sure has had to re-invent and do the 180 in order to survive. It’s apparent that the new head of Microsoft is doing that now.

While the newspaper industry sat back and counted on the joy of people getting black ink hands forever, the people said enough black ink on my hands. I agreed many years ago that the newspaper is dead, and it’s about time that those in the business evolve their business to an online status. Online news is what I read these days, and it’s apparent that I’m not alone.

Being competitive in a world where there are now supposedly jet powered fire trucks – means that you have to be at the top of your game to survive. That means you need to be in 2007 and not 1997.

Probably well over 7 months ago, some guy contacted me about his web site. I looked it over and I was astonished at how bad it looked. I told him in the most politically correct way that he needed to update it to 2006 and not 1996. He shot back a reply saying “I have RSS, they didn’t have that in 1996!”

Technically Speaking, that statement alone told me enough about the person. Change is hard to do sometimes, but sitting on the sidelines watching the world pass you by is even harder. What is even harder is finding Mustang parts these days.
