@Josh - yes, I jumped the gun on @jjeffryes - my bad totally! ;) We are chatting now via e-mail, so all is good.

Right now, I don't think it matters if you live in St. Louis - Chicago - Kansas City - Minneapolis - or anywhere east or west of any of those cities. Things are bad everywhere. Stress is at an all time high everywhere.

Next time I feel like posting something about the STL, I'll try to post something positive!

You have to take the good with the bad in St.Louis.

I have met very cool and very lame people in St.Louis. I have had opportunities I would have never got any where else, yet I have also struggled to get work.

Seeing as I have lived in the St.Louis area for only one and half years I could see how it would frustrate some one to a extreme. At the same time most of that for me was only to due with my lack of resources and support from my peers.

If there was one thing I could say that could be better in St.Louis would have to be the seance of community could be better. But once again that is coming from some one who has been here a short while.

I can say this, Josh Jefferys is a good guy and is passionate about this city. I have seen him try to help people here many times. I have also seen him write about his frustrations with the problems that most people face here. So you should go easy on the guy.

Even still you have to agree that the city is going through a ruff time and some people are starting to feel and express it. The only thing you can do is try to lend your support to the people who need it and hope that's all they needed.

@julia - yeah, I would like to know also, but WTFK's! I did check him out for a sec, and seems like he neither follows a bunch of people, and not many follow him either. I did however jump the gun on @jjeffryes, which I feel badly about. So again - WTFK's - I could be totally wrong about @thedarz also!

I would be interested in hearing what caused the comment. It is a pretty harsh statement. What's the matter, don't like the ever-changing weather, toasted ravioli, or was it the Arch that put him over the edge I wonder. Could be a number of things I suppose but either way, I doubt we will ever get the answer and I am not even sure I care to know.

Whoa, cool your jets there, firecracker. I didn't respond to the ping because I was taking care of my kids while my wife was sick. I guess that makes me some kind of jerk, hmmm? :)

Well, the truth being that St. Louis is playing catch up in being visible in the social media and social networking circles. There are probably a slew of great folks participating, but it's a far cry from 'big city' participation.

There's a social media club that's all but dead.

On the up side, there's a bloggers guild, plenty of tweetups, and several web 2.0 relative companies I believe.

A couple of others and I organized a BarCampStL at the end of last year, and looking to do another very soon.

So, yeah, behind maybe, but I'd wager mostly in visibility.

What would help? Wordcamps? Barcamps? Podcamps? etc. Those would totally rock, and I'm totally there to help.

Problem in St. Louis? Still think small town and act that way. Still think neighbors and neighborhoods over greater metro area. Too many folks want to 'own' things like get togethers ane events.

I'm all for participating in as many as we can and not focusing on owning it.

Thanks for calling out the overly negative folks. Negativity <> making things better!
@tojosan on Twitter.
