In 2 years we will know if this blog post is the truth. Currently on 12/22/2010 we could be counting down the last 2 years of life on the planet earth as we know it. Unless you have been living in a void for the past few years, 2012 is the big talk. Big as in it’s time for the final countdown to 12/21/2012 – the start of the winter solstice. That is the last day on the Mayan calendar that everyone points to as the final day for planet earth.

While it makes for great Hollywood money making in the form of movies called – “2012” for example – it still is one of those yet to be seen things.

Interesting facts behind that date is the entire galaxy is suppose to be lined up for the first time in ~26,000 years or something. It happens every ~26,000 years. Of course there is nothing saying that it won’t happen again in another ~26,000 years. There is nothing pointing out the fact that when we are talking about planet earth, the last great extinction came ~65 MILLION years ago with the dinosaurs.

That sounds pretty resilient as a planet. Makes for a good story so far. Makes for great conversation for sure.

Reason #3 – Mayans were into practical jokes

We don’t know much about the Mayans. They were a culture that up and disappeared and left behind huge cities in the South American jungles. Some not yet even discovered or unarchived. The ones that have been unarchived leave even more mystery as sometimes it appears they just up and left from the dinner table in some cases.

Since we know very little, who is to say that they didn’t leave the biggest practical joke around to be discovered by the future people of planet earth? Who’s to say that when they created the calendar wheel, it wasn’t intentionally created to end. Not forecasting anything, but left that way on purpose as a big practical joke on the future inhabitants of the planet.

We don’t know much about the Mayans, so this has to be taken into consideration. They created a better hoax than War of the Worlds back in the 20th Century. This one actually has people talking in the 21st Century. It is great to discuss. It’s a great conversation ice breaker for at least the next ~2 years and beyond.

Reason #2 – John Titor – time traveler

If the end is coming in 2012, that means John Titor time traveler who was online in chat rooms back at the turn of the century didn’t exist. Remember John Titor?

He came from 2036. If 2012 is the end, 2036 never existed. Even on another timeline, 2036 can’t happen if the death and destruction of the world happens on 12/21/2012.

2012 still comes before 2036. This means either John Titor was a complete hoax, and he probably was, or 2012 is something that was left as stated above in reason #3 – it was a complete practical joke played upon 21st Century society.

Reason #1 – Religion – God – The Bible

While there are many references to this statement 1 Thessalonians 5:2 as well as Revelations 3:3 state this:

Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; obey it, and repent. But if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what time I will come to you.

If that is something you believe in, then 12/21/2012 is too precise of a date for being a thief in the night. In fact it’s mentioned many times and in many passages throughout the bible. Coming like a thief in the night is not stating that 12/21/2012 will be the end of the world.

Technically Speaking, this post might be something to bookmark for 12/21 and 12/22/2012. btw – Have a blessed and happy next ~2 years, as 2012 could be real and on 12/22/2012 – human life as we know it could be extinct or near extinction.
