CBS Sez : Keep your $2.6 Million

January 29th, 2010 Rex Dixon Comments

Probably because they didn’t put the two commercial actors in a Colts and Saints jersey! Right? Right??? Please tell me this is 2010 and not 1910.

Originally seen here and on this very cool new user submits the story site called iSpotAStory out of NYC (met the brains behind this site when I lived there, glad to see she is really pushing it hard these days!).

CBS rejects ManCrunch.com Superbowl ad.

Technically Speaking, I thought this was America 2010, apparently hate, discrimination, and homophobia all run wild no matter what the news media tells you, even $2.6 million isn’t going to make this commercial air on Super Bowl Sunday!

WiiFit Time

nintendo-wii-fit-usAfter a year of it being on the market, I happen to be in Target last night looking for a $10 DVD cleaner and ended up walking out with (Nintendo smart marketing tacticsthe price hasn’t dropped in over a year!) $89.99 WiiFit. They are not that hard to find nowadays, as I saw 5 of them at a BestBuy a few weeks back. Last evening at Target there was exactly ONE. I summoned the electronics person to unlock the case.

Last night I plugged it in to get my initial body test, and yeah, I could have told you I was overweight and out of shape! Didn’t need the board to tell me that. I figured I’d start the actual exercise part tomorrow (today).

Today, I figured it was time to get in some sort of routine and give it a go. Did I look like the below pictures? Somewhat. I went through each exercise one time to give me a full WiiFit run through. The nice thing, I was able to unlock extra exercises and games. That was cool, so more for tomorrow to try.

Technically Speaking, we’ll see how this works or even motivates me to do other things, such as play some corkball if it ever stops raining!

What About All Of This I Hear?

It’s that time of the year here in the #STL that usually wouldn’t be a problem, but this year due to some unforeseen circumstances, didn’t hire a yard crew. Now that spring is fully here, and some other unforeseen events, looks like it will only be for a short time anyways.

As many of you have read, I took the job out in Los Angeles with ShopitMedia as their Director of Publisher Management as announced here.

Some of you may be scratching their heads as you may have also seen this earlier post on RWW about another position I recently took with Bit.ly in a consulting role as their Community Manager.

No confusion. The Bit.ly gig was only a part time opportunity which I’m still doing at least for the current time being. The ShopitMedia gig is full time. Also, note that Shopit is the main company. Lot’s of interesting stuff they offer, so you may want to check that out if you aren’t looking for traditional banner advertising.

And what about the siliconANGLE blog? Oh yeah, I’m still doing that also! Just not as much as I use too, but I contributed an article there this week. I also participated in several different threads over there, as that is what we want to see – other people’s angles via the commenting! Also – We still need more regular contributors to sign up! We already have had many new names show up in the past week, but we can always use other angles!

Technically Speaking, you have been updated, and now some yard work awaits me!

Monkees Literal

March 29th, 2009 Rex Dixon Comments

Another great find on the blog that never sleeps.

Technically Speaking, if you remember watching the Monkees in first run on television – you’re old! Even if you watched them in first or second re-run, you might be a bit up there!

Twitter Premium – @jamievaron update

March 19th, 2009 Rex Dixon Comments

Is this for real? Twitter Premium? As many of you know, siliconANGLE went through a bit of growing pains earlier in the week. It should be returning in the next few hours, but wanted to put the twitter premium information out here.

The details of the accounts are as follows:

* Sparrow ($5/month) – Users get 145 character limit, 5 extra random followers.

* Dove ($15/month) – Users get 160 character limit, 25 extra random followers, 1 random celebrity follower, auto-spell check, “Fail Whale” T-shirt.

* Owl ($50/month) – Users get 250 character limit, 100 extra random followers, 2 random celebrity followers, 30 minutes on recommended list, auto-spell check, “Fail Whale” hoodie.

* Eagle ($250/month) – Users get 500 character limit, 1000 extra random followers, 3 celebrity followers of their choice, 5 hours on recommended list each month, Twitter Concierge for Tweeting while user is asleep or busy (and more), auto-spell check, “Fail Whale” tuxedo, custom “Fail Whale” page when service is down.

There is even an embellish fee if you like. Explained as:

Users in any tier will be able to purchase an EmbellishTwit add-on for $100/year, which directs tweets to a well-educated offshore employee who will embellish tweets. For example, “Just had a whole wheat bagel and coffee for breakfast,” becomes “Just got in from clubbing all night and Heidi Klum is spreading brie on a baguette just flown in on the Concord for my breakfast.”

Technically Speaking, I’m still wondering why there is hardly any coverage of this today/this morning? It is fun to read at the very least!

One quick twitter note: @jamievaron updated her blog (slash site, online resume, online projection of job wanting/hunting, etc..) and may actually receive an interview by twitter as well as will be in Fortune magazine. Funny thing, she still won’t follow me! UPDATE: See the next post above this one!

She even uses my original post about her site/blog on her press page. haha!

Now, I just wanted to let you all know that…
I AM GOING TO BE IN
FORTUNE MAGAZINE!

THE Fortune Magazine! I can’t even believe it. I am not sure at this time in what capacity I will be featured, but I will let you all know when I get more information.

ALSO, as if that weren’t enough…
I’M GOING TO THE TWITTER
OFFICES ON TUESDAY!

No Shark Fin Soup and Rock Soap Opera

March 12th, 2009 Rex Dixon Comments

First off I want to push my new page – @RexDixon Twitter Stream page. It’s one of the better plugins for twitter streams I have seen. Thank you goes to @threefourteen who did the original one the other day that prompted me to give it a go.

Hey – everyone is getting ready for the onslaught known as SXSW, so it’s time for some humor. Watch this video, and head over to the blog that never sleeps and watch it again!

Rock Soap Opera – Knowing Allen, I thought he was talking about THE ROCK going into the world of soap opera acting – and – was I ever surprised. A start up that is serious about talking about two, uhm, rocks!

Tonight I’ve got a UK-based startup that frankly I don’t know how to categorize. It’s called Rock Soap Opera and is a soap opera like All My Children and Young and the Restless. The only difference is that this soap opera is about two rocks. Yes, two rocks.

Technically Speaking, it’s SXSW starting tomorrow – keep your eye on the anglesiliconANGLE for the coverage that Rizzn is about to lay on you coming live from SXSW for the next few days!
