Here is a picture of my bud in Chicago last week the week before last for the Occupy Chicago protest that is most likely still happening and getting even bigger this week. Maybe not in Chicago, but  more widespread across the country and world.

While there are many events that are triggering all this Occupy mentality, I can’t help to wonder how close to an actual revolution we are living in. Dangerous times, desperate folks, unemployed people, all spell one thing – trouble.

Did I happen to mention that the picture that made the FoxNews affiliate is from the week before last? So the current picture which is below, is going to show that Occupy Chicago isn’t stopping, and while I write in advance and post later, this is still relevant and happening.

No Justice Breaks Lone Star State Border with “Second Avenue” out July 6

After Seven Top 10 Hits and Two No. 1 Singles in Texas, Collective Soul’s Dexter Green Produces the Band’s New Album
LOS ANGELES, CA – They say everything is bigger in Texas. What, then, is to be said of the band that is bigger than Texas itself? After dominating the Texas and Oklahoma music scenes-from live shows to radio hits-No Justice will release its Carved Records debut, “Second Avenue,” on July 6.

Since 2005, No Justice has conquered Texas stages and radio waves with hits including “Never Come Back” and “Don’t Walk Away.” A rigorous touring schedule, which takes the band across the United States for more than 200 dates a year, has created a national swell leading into the summer release.

No Justice worked with music producer Dexter Green (Collective Soul) on the new release, using the group’s many musical influences, including metal, ‘80s rock, jazz and also Red Dirt rock, something band Cross Canadian Ragweed has embraced. No Justice front man Steve Rice explains the group’s Red Dirt rock focus as not just a genre, but a way of performing and interacting with the environment and the audience.

“[With Red Dirt] there’s no competition, for the most part, between each other,” Rice says. “We got popular in this area because of our peers, helping us out, taking us in, letting us play their shows.”
With the fusion of various genres to create No Justice’s unique sound, Rice says that’s how his group sets itself apart. His own musical prowess stems from his love of rock staples like Elvis, the Rolling Stones, U2 and Van Morrison.

“All these guys [in the band] have such different influences and do their own thing, and we blend together and make No Justice.”
Rice describes the album’s lead single, “Love Song,” not as a fairytale, but as a story of love lost. “It’s written from a small-town perspective-having missed out on a special opportunity with someone and wanting it back.”

“Love Song” balances melancholy lyrics-”How about one more dance / A second chance / To ease my mind … Come on and take my hand”-with an upbeat musical backdrop: rhythmic drums and blazing Red Dirt riffs. The contrast both excites and tugs at the heartstrings, exemplifying the proven radio-ready quality of the band’s songwriting. Rip-roaring album opener, “Going Nowhere,” tells the tale of young summer nights, with Rice recounting the nostalgia of a simpler age brimming emotion and void of responsibility: “Lost in the moment, but we didn’t care / We were running wild and going nowhere.” “Second Avenue” is out Tuesday, July 6, 2010 on Carved Records. Southern California-based New Vo Riche Debuts Thing Parade Revolving Around Los Angeles, Collection of Characters

New Vo Riche’s first album will debut on digital outlets through Century Park Records on June 22 featuring first single “She’s Not Your Girl”

LOS ANGELES, CA – New Vo Riche’s debut album Thing Parade follows the group’s EP Rhetoric, both combining the trio’s love of genres like indie, rock, folk and alternative music. With a sound mixing the singer/songwriter vibes of the iconic soft rocking Simon and Garfunkel and the popular alternative musician Ben Folds, New Vo Riche wrote 11 of the 12 tracks on the debut, each with insight into the three guys’ lives and beliefs.

The inspiration behind the title and overall theme of Thing Parade stemmed from an idea of a collection of characters coming together with spontaneous creativity. “Thing Parade” also serves as the album’s opening song, with the repetition of opening lyrics “Story goes like…” getting ready to tell a tale of “a thing parade from out of the mountains” and “out in the snow.”

Emmy-award winning composer Rich Dickerson produced Thing Parade after wearing many hats in the entertainment music industry, including music supervisor for feature films like “Queen of the Damned,” VP of music for the web company Icebox.com and theme songwriter for TV series “What’s New Scooby Doo?” which was recorded by the band Simple Plan. Producer/songwriter/musician Jeff Gross also produced Thing Parade. His production credits include writing music for “Baywatch,” MTV’s “Road Rules and “Real World” programs, FOX and CNN.

The album’s first single, “She’s Not Your Girl,” was written by band member Ian Kieffer to describe the universal experience of boy-meets-girl who is trying to escape from her life. Originally, the track was written for Sky Ferreira whose debut single “One” was produced by Bloodshy & Avant. New Vo Riche ultimately kept the song for the album with lyrics, “they don’t know it, but she’s scared out of her mind, she’s not their kind/Tidal waves soak up the city from her window pane/they don’t know it, but she’s got a way out to save her soul.” Meaning can be found in the story by anyone, whether thinking of a daughter, wife, girlfriend or innocent crush, according to the group. Another standout track is “L.A.,” based on the guys’ hometown and the striking dichotomy of happiness and moroseness of the beloved West Coast city. Written to be an anthem for Los Angeles, New Vo Riche wanted to combine a somber-sounding melody with an authentic, new age sound and lyrics representing hope and faith, describing the place they call home. “There’s gotta be something more than just money and fame/Freeway trash begins to pile, but this whole sky is worth it all…maybe you’ll make it out okay…” Thing Parade will debut on digital outlets on June 22.

New Vo Riche was formed in the summer of 2009 in Los Angeles with brothers Ian and Geordie Kieffer and best friend Justin Ostroff. Each call Los Angeles their hometown and played music separately through high school before realizing they should band together, and the result had an overwhelmingly good response among their friends and community. The trio mixes musical genres like indie, rock, folk and alternative, demonstrated first on the EP Rhetoric. The band originally hails from Southern California, but now all three members attend different colleges across the country. Rudd is known for his extraordinary stage show that finds him performing guitar, didgeridoo and various percussion parts simultaneously—using a unique set-up that literally surrounds him with various instruments, singing from behind a stand holding three didgeridoos of different keys. He has led sold-out tours in Europe, Canada, Australia and the US, both headlining and supporting the likes of the Dave Matthews Band, Jack Johnson and Ben Harper. Technically Speaking, wondering if I should fire back up the EmbargoZone?

It’s that time of the year here in the #STL that usually wouldn’t be a problem, but this year due to some unforeseen circumstances, didn’t hire a yard crew. Now that spring is fully here, and some other unforeseen events, looks like it will only be for a short time anyways.

As many of you have read, I took the job out in Los Angeles with ShopitMedia as their Director of Publisher Management as announced here.

Some of you may be scratching their heads as you may have also seen this earlier post on RWW about another position I recently took with Bit.ly in a consulting role as their Community Manager.

No confusion. The Bit.ly gig was only a part time opportunity which I’m still doing at least for the current time being. The ShopitMedia gig is full time. Also, note that Shopit is the main company. Lot’s of interesting stuff they offer, so you may want to check that out if you aren’t looking for traditional banner advertising.

And what about the siliconANGLE blog? Oh yeah, I’m still doing that also! Just not as much as I use too, but I contributed an article there this week. I also participated in several different threads over there, as that is what we want to see – other people’s angles via the commenting! Also – We still need more regular contributors to sign up! We already have had many new names show up in the past week, but we can always use other angles!

While I had a very successful trip to Los Angeles, of course I am a bit behind and just finally getting around to catching up on my RSS feeds.
