Я не говорить, читать, ни писать русский. Так я получил, что и чирикал его в качестве моего QOTD (Вопрос дня) немного назад: http://twitter.com/ # / RexDixon/status/71664043508760577.

Я подумал, было бы интересно писать быстро блога на русском языке. Что касается заявления, что выше, я не читать, писать или говорить на любом языке, кроме английского. У меня есть некоторые слабые воспоминания о японской и может рода понимаю, что я помню с момента, когда я был ребенком, растущим в Японии, но это было много, много лун назад.

Теперь thoses, что читать, говорить, писать русский язык может быть оскорблен этой должности, я думаю, что это говорит о многом тому, как современные технологии создали возможность для меня легко написать в Google Translate Россию. Я мог бы также писать по-китайски – простой или традиционной, или даже хорватский, немецкий, испанский и т.д..

При наборе этого и смотреть это волшебно перевод с английского на русский, я думаю, что русский язык является довольно красивый язык. Очень загадочный вид, но эй, это русский! :)

С технической точки зрения, в эту пятницу было очень быстро один, наслаждаться выходные!

Last week I logged into Google Webmaster Tools and noticed something different; the keyword report now showed how many impressions, clicks, and your average position in Google search results worldwide.

Cross section this information with data in Google Analytics, and it’s a goldmine. I’ll show you!

First you need to choose something on your site you’d like to improve. A key source of revenue for WhyDoWork.com are our work at home job listings. Improving traffic to this area of the site will result in more revenue (more traffic = more money).

With that in mind, I logged into Google Analytics and looked at the top referring keyword to the jobs page this week. It turns out a lot of traffic to that specific was coming from search engines for the keyword “data entry jobs”. Here’s a screenshot:

Google’s AdSense Program has been an excellent source for many to earn money online. AdSense for search may not be new to you, and if you are using it, you should know that you can also improve your earnings by providing users with a customized search box which allows you to filter results for specific domains only.

As an example, if a user searches for the term SEO when using my customized search function, it will only show relevant results on selected domains that I have specified. Apart from the results, ads will also be displayed and as a result can increase my AdSense conversions. See below:

Prior to this new release, the only way you could show AdSense for search ads was to use Google’s script. If you had your own non-Google customized search box, your search results will not show any ads. Now, all you need to do is to add a few lines of JavaScript to your pages, and start monetizing your search results too. You can choose the size, shape and location of each ad block, and you can even adjust the style of the ads to better fit the look and feel of your site. Here is a screenshot of a website that uses the new AdSense for search ads:

As with everything Google, this new monetization method is not readily available to everyone and you will need to “convince” Goolgle’s team that you qualify. If you are interested, you can give it a shot by filling in the form provided solely for this purpose. You will be asked to provide your name, email, Pub Id (for existing AdSense users), URL where you pretend to use it, number of pageviews and finally the “killer” question, how do you want to use this product on your website. If your answer is right, then you might be lucky and get approved. Be patient though as according to Google the volume of request for this product is extremely high at this moment.

This is another great place to start if you are analyzing your blog’s landing pages:

Step 1 – Identify Problem Pages

This is easy to do with Google Analytics – just go to Content -> Top Landing Pages, and check the chart at the bottom of the page. These are the pages that visitors are most likely to enter your site through. Now check the column to the far right – Bounce Rate. This is the percentage of visitors who leave your site without looking at another page on your blog. They hit the landing page, get what they want (or not) then leave.

If you have any high bounce rates in this section (80%+), you’re missing out on further page views from these first-time visitors. This is vital; pulling readers further into your site is essential to converting visitors to subscribers and/or sales.

Step 2 – Analysis

Before we start optimising the page, we need to do some more research. Here are the two main things you can do:

• Click on the name of each post, and look at the Time on Page. Is it significantly lower than the time it takes to read the article? If so, it’s likely that the reader is not finding the answer to the question they had when they clicked through.
• Ask them. Set up a Poll on the page, entitled “Help me improve this article: What information were you asking for?” Give a few options, and don’t forget to add ‘something else’ as an option. Alternatively, a simple “Did you find the information you were looking for?” can be useful. Experiment with putting it at the top and bottom of the post, to see if people are reading the whole article before bouncing.
• Check the entrance sources for the post on Google Analytics. Are people mostly finding the article through Google images? This might account for the high bounce rate.

Step 3 – Optimise

You should now have some ideas on how you might optimise the article. Perhaps there’s more information you want to add, maybe you want to shorten it, or then again maybe you want to make it more appealing and add more images. Then again, maybe the site design is unattractive, or there are too many ads or other annoying things on the page. Whatever you do, don’t assume; test.

Also, do ensure that there are links and pathways to other content on your site! This is essential. Maybe your related posts plug-in and category list are not effective – you might have to tell/coax your reader into looking deeper.

If you have several ideas on how to optimise the page, you may want to use Google Web Optimiser to run several new versions of the page. Each visitor will be randomly directed to one of your test pages, and you can compare the metrics against each other at the end of the test.

An interesting perspective on the Google Analytics Top Landing Page Report:

Sure, Entrances and Visits aren’t the same metric, but that’s not really why I’m at this report. I’m here because I want to see how these landing pages stacked up when it came to getting visitors to sign up for my newsletter or buy my widgets. It wouldn’t be the first time that I’ve seen a page with a higher bounce rate net me more cash than one with a slighter lower bounce rate.

So the Map Overlay report is fine and dandy, but you’re probably wondering, “Why isn’t he talking about Custom Reporting yet? Does he know there are Custom Reports now?”

Yes. He does. And you get a gold star, because this is a perfect case for why Custom Reports are awesome. If a built-in report isn’t doing it for you, just build your own from scratch and start using the new one instead.

As we all know, Google is everywhere. There is really no big surprise by this article about Google showing up in news searches now. Not a big deal if you ask me. Soon enough, Google might morph into twitter as many reports are stating. For full disclosure, yes I wrote that.

One thing I did forget to mention in the above SiliconANGLE post is that Google, while just firing up their Google twitter yesterday, has other Google properties already on twitter. So while the “real” Google is now on twitter, Google properties has been around and have already enjoyed the benefit of twitter’s real life conversation search. There was really no need for people to point this out. It is quite obvious that twitter’s benefit’s are now coming to light.

Technically Speaking, since I wrote that above post earlier this morning, the followers of the Google account have jumped another 4,000! I wonder if these people are expecting a really cool announcement or something? Only time will tell, and what I really wonder is when twitter will have to take a piss in the cup – ie. – Twitter is on steroids – follow along and you’ll understand my sense of humor!
